My mom says that the, admittedly rather macabre, stories and poems I write could give people the "wrong idea"?
Q. Is she right? I often use death, witchcraft, and insanity as vehicles for the themes of my stories and poems. My mother, incable of seeing beyond the face value of the words and plot of my stories, thinks that the things I write will make people think that there is something fundamentally wrong with me. Is she right? Should I censor my artwork to make people comfortable?

A. Pffft. No way. As one creative writer to another, I say do as you please. Creativity = freedom, and in no way should freedom be censored. Absolutely stick to your guns and write whatever you deem fit to write. Your mum needs to consider that writing is not always sunshine and roses - and if she carries on telling you this, you need to challenge her and the way she thinks - say, Shakespeare - he wrote about fairies and people wearing ass's heads. Did people think there was something wrong with him? We did and still do think he's a genius.

What's so wrong with saying "I don't know"? Why do people have to make up stories to fill gaps of knowledge?
Q.
Asked by ZIPMAC - Mon Mar 16 17:00:24 2009 - Religion & Spirituality - 28 Answers - Comments

A. Just because you don't know some things, does not mean that others have not found an answer that they consider relevant. Perhaps, you may realize that you may not be the only source of information. Other people might have insight you do not have. Perhaps they are not "making up stories" at all, but simply sharing truth you have not yet found.

A. Kind of.I think it means that when you do wrong, you are not only hurting someone else but yourself, too. You are making your subconscious feel guilty and someone that you hurt will remember that you hurt them and that may also hurt you later.

Q. Right now i hate the school that I am attending, but it's too late, I am already a junior and graduating early. Some times I wish I had transferred because then I would have made the best of my college experiences. I would like to hear stories of people who has attended the wrong " college.

A. College is what you make of it. I don't think there is any 'run of the mill' college experience that applies to everyone. I can tell you that everyone has regrets about the college they went to. The ones who went to a "party school" regret not learning enough, while the ones went to a more difficult school regret not going out enough. Personally, I went to a very small (1800 kids) liberal arts college in Central PA. Needless to say it wasn't the most exciting and I regret not going to a larger school, but I learned alot and have a few fond memories. I think you may just be anxious about going into the "real world" (god knows I was) and you may be dwelling too much about the past (I'm sorry to sound like your dad).… [cont.]

Corrosion on the connections. or failure of that little box that is next to your brake lights My guess is its prob just that, but to maek sure a trip to the mechanic might be in the future

Is it "abuse" to post an obviously false confession, for humor value?
Q. Some things are borderline, but someone claimed to have killed a baby and asked how to sue the baby's parents (at ). Is that a violation of the community guidelines? Should I click on "report abuse"?
Asked by StephenWeinstein - Fri May 21 15:26:49 2010 - Yahoo! Answers - 3 Answers - Comments

A. Well, that question is an obvious "troll" (see link, below), so, yes, you can click the "Report Abuse" button to report it if you wish. Sadly, there are SO many trolling questions on here that if you reported all of them that would take up ALL of your time on here, so, although I used to report them in the past, I don't even bother any more, there's just too many of 'em. Good luck!...

Was this just wrong, or do I lack any sense of "art" or humor?
Q. I just embraced religion a few months ago, and began going to church 2 weeks ago. My so-called "friend" knows this. Today he sent me a "work of art" showing a religious icon and in red, bloody letters saying something harsh I don't even want to repeat. At the time, I just said I didn't like it, but now that I think of it, I find it rude and insulting. Do I need friends like this, was it downright mean, or should I just say ha-ha-very-funny or what??

What does this quote mean " Whosoever does wrong, wrongs himself" ?
Q.
Asked by Lauren P - Sun Apr 10 16:12:49 2011 - Quotations - 4 Answers - Comments

A. It's basically saying that when you do something wrong, it doesn't just affect others like you think it would. It also affects you in mysterious ways. No matter what, Karma always gets ya(: and if you do something wrong, in some cases, if it's really bad and you don't fix it, the guilt builds up inside you, so really, it affects you. Hope I helped! =]

How come there isn't a "Humor" category?
Q. I see jokes and riddles, but that isn't really all there is to humor. Stuff like favorite comedians, tv comedies, funny personal experiences and stories really don't need to be drowned out in another category where everyone is talking about how sad their life is, or how angry they are. Why doesn't Yahoo answers give us a lighter side to hang out at?
Asked by Talsier - Thu Mar 18 13:21:49 2010 - Jokes & Riddles - 1 Answers - Comments

A. It might be interesting to run a trial of a couple of weeks and then at the end of that period a panel could exclude all those which could not be placed in "Jokes and Riddles". It would be interesting to see what was left.

What happens to food that "Goes down the wrong pipe" and ends up in your lungs?
Q. There was that story on the news recently about the man who had a seed sprout and begin to grow in his lungs; ive heard of stories similar to this and it got me thinking: what generally happens to misguided items that end up in ones lungs instead of stomach?
Asked by Barrett - Thu Aug 19 02:17:14 2010 - Other - Health - 1 Answers - Comments

A. I'm sure it usually gets coughed up or cleaned out in one way or another. The seed got in his lungs because he breathed it in and I guess it was so small his body didn't notice it. I dunno though but that's my guess.

Is it ethically and morally wrong to incorporate black people into a presentation the way "Ross" does?
Q. My... colleague, let's call him "Ross"... was supposed to give a speech on Snow Falling on Cedars but didn't rehearse it prior to the presentation. Instead, he pointed to one of my coloured classmates and said "let's just pick on Omar for ten minutes". I think this is wrong but would like your opinions. Thoughts?
Asked by - Thu Oct 20 20:47:56 2011 - Etiquette - 4 Answers - Comments

A. This "Ross" sounds like a prize jerk. Why would he think it is okay to use your "colored" class mate as the actual presentation, this is awful. Not even based on skin color, but to single out another human and use them without their knowledge or agreement in order to make an educational point is just well...extremely uneducated. I hope your teacher/lecturer does not allow this. As I have already said, my thoughts are not really color/race based, more so my opinion is based on the fact "Ross" is lazy and slap dash, he has not rehearsed, so thinks it is okay to use another as a symbol of his presentation, really nasty mindset I must say.

What Does It Mean When Someone Says You Have a "Very Dry" Sense of Humor?
Q. I needed to ask what people would describe my sense of humor as (for a school assignment), and they all said "dry, very dry." What does that mean, and what kind of person USUALLY has a dry sense of humor (other than the British)? Hunter, you are an ignoramus. I know the British have it because I've heard people say, countless times, that British humor is very dry. Also, discriminating against a certain nationality is not racism. Read a book.
